Hi there! I am Carlos Plancarte, visual designer, media producer, and project manager based in Orange County, California. I have a passion for colorful design, media, and technology.

I love art, video games, animation, podcasts, films, the outdoors, horror fiction, blogging, and mezcal. My guilty pleasures include dark chocolate, graphic novels, and 80s synthpop and video games music.

Since I was a kid, I've always loved visual arts, films, comics, photography, computers, and drawing with colored pencils. I spent hours sketching imaginary things, watching movies, and also delivering outstanding art projects in school. Art and history classes were always my favorite (and to be honest.. for me the easiest ones) since I come from a family of creative artists, art professors, and writers. Early on I learned about typography, layouts, and design styles by sneaking into my grandparent's art storage room and by playing with their stencils, proportional scales, color guides, L-square rulers, and oils. I remember discovering my grandfather’s Speedball Textbook and using its amazing calligraphy styles for my school projects.

When I was 8 years old, I created my first geometrical design in school using Logo language and a black Commodore 16. Since then, the idea of using technology to create new things has fascinated me and of course, I became a fan of computer graphics. Nowadays, I enjoy contributing to projects that are born at the intersection of visual design, media production, art, and the web.

My great interest in technology and science drew me to engineering school in Mexico City and later to do my master’s degree in innovation management at the University of Sussex a few years ago. In 2012, I moved to NYC and started Goinng, a monetized website to share technology and innovation trends. However, I've been always been interested in combining my artistic side with my project management skills. Through self-learning and online resources I have learned to use tools for digital design, media production, web creation, and blogging such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Blender, Manga Studio, Cinema 4D, Maya, ZBrush, Procreate, and WordPress. I am very interested in web development and VR/AR.

I've dedicated time to refining my abilities with formal education on design, creative production, and media tools in New York City and Mexico City through the years. I've taken diplomas and courses at the ITESM CCM (Film Appreciation & Photography), Arte 7 Film School (Filmmaking), Brooklyn BRIC Arts Media (Media production & Adobe Creative Cloud), General Assembly NY (Visual Design), and Escena Animation School (3D Modeling, Animation, and Digital Illustration).

I have also worked as a project manager in international consultancy environments and as a designer/media producer creating social media posts, producing videos, film posters, illustrations, logos, blogs, websites, and UI mockups for clients in the US and Mexico. I enjoy helping companies to reach broader audiences in Spanish-speaking markets with my localization and translation skills. Furthermore, the act of supporting gaming communities in Latin America allows me to use my native language skills and my passion for video games.

I consider myself a very creative and resourceful professional person who likes to explore new boundaries to solve problems innovatively and efficiently. Constantly learning new things is a daily motivation for me. The art of combining beautiful aesthetics, functional design, and commercial viability is another major driver for me.
